The benefits of highbankers are that you can take a light weight sluice and motor to the gold bearing gravel. Is removes the need to haul material to the water. This speeds up recover and puts more gold in your pocket faster. If you have a recirculating unit then it can be operated in the desert where there is no water.

Water is pumped to the top of a hopper where it is sprayed out of a washer bar onto the material. It washes it down onto a normal in stream sluice that has been angled down into a catch basin. Then just like a normal sluice you clean it up at periodic moments during the gold prospecting trip. The material that is taken from the sluice is further run through a gold pan to clean it up.
A highbanker is a powerful tool that can really increase ones gold recovery.

I took this out for a weekend and was very pleased with the results. I was holding on to much of the little flake gold I ran across. I even re panned some concentrate that I had gone over with my trusty Garrett "Gravity Trap" gold pan and picked up some fine gold I had missed the first time around.

The Gold Grabber takes a little bit to get use to for it is an unusual design. It retails for around $17 but can usually be found online for $12. At that price it is worth having in your weekend warrior bag. One outing with it and I recovered enough gold to pay for it and buy a couple more. With gold over $1600 an ounce you only have to recover .25 of a gram to pay for this. That is easily obtainable in a weekend, especially if you have the Gold Grabber in your bag. A sluice box is a long channel with a bottom and two sides, used for separating gold from sediment in gold mining. The sluice is placed in a creek or river and secured in place. The box must be on an angle to the creek bed, and adjustment is necessary to get the slope correct so that the water flow is not too fast, pushing along the heavy gold material, or too slow, not clearing lighter, worthless sediment. Sediment is placed in the front of the sluice. The water pushes the material through the sluice. Each riffle creates an eddy which slows the water flow, allowing heavier material to drop to the bottom of the sluice and remain trapped behind the riffle. Several riffles ensure that the heavy material has more chance of falling to the bottom as the flow is interrupted over and over.

A sluice box is not a replacement for a gold pan. But, it is a supplement to it. You have limited time out in the field collecting material that has gold in it. So run the gold bearing material through the sluice and clean it up in the gold pan at home. Panning can easily be done at home in your backyard.

So when you are in the field hunting for gold. Take a sluice box. Work your whole trip moving material through the box. This will create a concentrate that you can place in a 5 gallon bucket for latter gold panning.

Now, I could individually review all of the gold paydirt on the internet because we sell most of that which is available on the market, but to say one is superior to others is a hard thing to do.

The reason is is because most of them provide different types of gold, and you aren't going to get rich with any of them.  If you are buying pay dirt to make money or hit it big, stop now.

Paydirt is meant for the recreational gold panner who wants the thrill of gold mining without having to trek into the back country to get it.  It is a fun, and often rewarding experience.  People can and do find big nuggets in the paydirt, and I promise you're ticker will get going the firs time you see the "color" poke through the dirt.

So when looking for paydirt and seeking reviews go to some of the online forums, and check around for what others are thinking.  You will immediately find out about scammers or cheaters.  There are a few selling bunk paydirt, but those sellers eventually dry up like an old creek bed.  If they seller has been around for a long time there's a reson for it.

Gold panning has been around for a long time but is mostly known for its iconic role in the American Gold Rush days of the 1800's.  This was a miner's first tool in discovering new claims along river and creek beds.  If the miner found gold he either kept panning or used greater methods of extracting the gold from then on out.

Many newcomers to gold mining don't want to pan, they want to use things like dredges, sluices, and highbankers.  What they don't realize that even after they use these more industrialized tools, eventually they will still need to pan the dirt, if for no other reason than to be more thorough of extracting gold.

A gold pan is an essential tool in the miner and recreational gold hunters tool kit.

First take the little pellets and smash them to thin disks with a hammer.  These lead disks will simulate gold nuggets since lead has a similar density as gold they will stay at the bottom of the pan.  Mix a few into your dirt and take a fist size full of wet dirt and put it in your pan.

Once you are ready, you need to get on the side of a moving water source or use a large mouth bucket filled with water.

The trick to gold panning is to get a good swirling motion.  Gently move your elbows, not your wrists, in elongated imaginary circles.  Each time you swirl the water around once, let a little water and dirt spill out of the gold pan.  Not too much.  Keep the pan slightly tilted at an angle.

Every so often break up the clump of dirt in your pan,  and continue to swish.  It's a careful process, and eventually you will get to the bottom of the pan.  If you did it correctly you will see the little lead nuggets we made  in the pan, sticking out from the dirt.  Carefully remove the pellets and count how many there are to see if you lost any.  If you did, get you another load of dirt and keep practicing until you master it.
